SERVICES HELD THURSDAY FOR MRS. A. JORDAN
Funeral services for Mrs. Anthony C. Jordan of Hartley, were conducted last Thursday afternoon, November 9, 1961 at 2 o'clock at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Rev. R. G. Beck, officiated at the service. Mrs. Lambert Mastbergen served as soloist. She sang "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "The Lord's Prayer". Mrs. R. G. Beck, served as organist. Pallbearers were: Orlo Jordan, Jack Rohweder, Albert Rohweder, Edwin Lohse, Vernon Ihnen and Chris Baumeister. Interment was made at Lone Tree Cemetery near Everly.Mrs. Anthony Jordan, born Anna Caroline Wehde, the daughter of Frederick and Magreta Slueter Wehde, was born on April 13, 1884 near Grand Mound, in Clinton County, Iowa. She passed into eternal rest November 6, 1961 following a long illness. She had reached the age of 77 years, 6 months and 23 days.
She attended the rural schools near Grand Mound, and at Everly, where the family moved when she was 10. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On February 28,1906 she was married to Anthony Jordan. They made their home at Lakefield, Minnesota for 22 years, but for the past 20 years had lived in O'Brien County, Iowa. To them were born three children: Leona, now Mrs. William Behmler of St. Paul, Minnesota, Eldo of Babbitt, Minnesota and Lester of Denver, Colorado. Besides her husband and children she is survived by four grandchildren: Elaine (Mrs. Fritz Peterson) and Lynn Jordan, both of Babbitt and Carole (Mrs. Peter Miller) of St. Paul and Kent of Denver; three great grandchildren: Scott, Gregory and Linda Miller, all of St. Paul, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and her many friends.
