Luverne Victor Wetterling, 87, of Carroll died of complications of Alzheimer's disease Monday at St. Anthony's Hospital there. Memorial services were held Tuesday at Orchard View in Carroll.

Mr. Wetterling was born in Garner to Edward and Edna Rasmus Wetterling. He was an electrical contractor for 20 years in Garner. From 1951 until 1973, he owned a greenhouse and floral shop in Osceola, and later moved to Carroll in 1990 from Arkansas.

He was a former Boy Scout leader and was instrumental in starting the American Field Service organization in Osceola. His memberships included Masonic Lodge, the Chamber of Commerce in both Osceola and Garner and First United Methodist Church in Carroll. He was also a member and past president of the Osceola Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred; three daughters, Lynda Dorweiler of Carroll and her husband, Victor, Dixi Carrillo and her husband, Mario, of Oakland, California, and Lea Tuck and her husband, Jim, of Flagstaff, Arizona, a sister, Doris Weishaar of Garner; and five grandchildren.

Services were handled by Cremation Society of Iowa in Ankeny
