September 13, 1960Mary Ellen Vawn, daughter of John Flynn and Della Hayes Flynn, was born at Galesburg, Ill., on March 11, 1877, and passed away at the Clarke County Public Hospital on Wednesday, August 31, 1960, at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 20 days.
She received her education in the Galesburg Schools and had been a resident of Clarke county and vicinity for the past 62 years.
On April 11, 1896 she was married to Frederick James Vawn at Galesburg. To this marriage six children were born.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband and son, Henry; one sister and two brothers.
She is survived by two sons; Fred of Dumont, and Walter Vawn of Osceola; three daughters; Helen Stegall of Abingdon, Illinois, Katherine Megrew and Mary Woods of Osceola; one sister Ruth Strickland and a brother Thomas E. Flynn, both of Venice, California, seven grandchildren and four great grand children, and other relatives and a host of friends.
