C.H. Wetzel went to Union county last Saturday to attend the funeral of his mother-in-law, who died at her home February 10, aged sixty-seven years and twenty days. She had been a resident of Clarke county since in the ‘60s. Her first husband was Philo Avery, who enlisted at Osceola in the 15th Iowa Volunteers and died at Keokuk in June, 1862.

She was married to Allen T. McClure in 1864, and moved to Madison county in 1875. They moved to Union county where her husband died on July 6, 1895.

She was the mother of four children, two of whom survive her. She was loved and esteemed by all who knew her and leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss.
