William "Bill" Bryan Oehlert, son of Herschel Oehlert and Emily (Baldwin) Oehlert was born October 21, 1925 in Osceola, Iowa, and passed from this life Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Clarke County hospital in Osceola at 93 years of age.

Bill grew up in Woodburn and graduated from Woodburn High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Mabel Darline McLaughlin on April 15, 1950 at her parents home in Leslie.

Bill was very civic-minded and very active in his communities, both Woodburn and Osceola. He served on the Clarke County Hospital board, SCICAP board, and the Clarke County Board of Supervisors. He farmed for many years while working at several jobs including John Deere where he retired in 1987. Bill was a member of the Herndon-Oehlert American legion Post #157 of Woodburn, member of the AmVets, the Shriners, the Masons and a member of the Woodburn Methodist Church.

Bill was a very caring person. He enjoyed singing, playing cards, doing the jumble puzzles, socializing with everyone, (he never met a stranger), and enjoyed telling jokes and funny stories.

Those relatives who preceded Bill in death were his wife, Mabel, son, Brian, brothers, Allen and J.D. and his parents and son-in-law Mike.
