Died in Osceola, Iowa, Friday, April 19, 1895, Wm. Miler, aged seventy-seven years, nine months and nine days. He was born in Monroe county, Virginia, July 10, 1817. His family moved to Ohio, in 1826, and in 1852, Mr. Miler moved to Wapello county, Iowa, then to Clarke county in 1866 which was his residing place until death.

He was married June 7, 1838 to Sarah Coughenor and eight children were born to them, six of whom survive him: They are James and Zack Miler, Mrs. Henry Twyford, Mrs. J McCarty, Mrs. G.K. Binkerd and Mrs. A.C. Rook. His wife died twelve years ago. Mr. Miler was an old and respected citizen of this county, having been a continuous resident for twenty-nine years. He was a kind father and an affectionate husband. He was not a church member but rather held to the free Will Baptist. Rev Shenton delivered the funeral sermon and he was interred in the cemetery in Liberty township.

A second newspaper obituary was found online within an Ancestry.com link but no indication where it had been published.

William Miler died at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. George Binkerd, his son-in-law and daughter, in Osceola Friday morning. December 28th he fell and seriously injured one of his hips and the injury was very painful, but Dr. Roberts says the immediate cause of his death was quick consumption. A peculiarity of his case was that for almost three weeks before he passed away, he had not swallowed a morsel of food.

Mr. Miler was born in Monroe county, West Virginia, July 10, 1817, and at the age of nine years accompanied his parents to Ohio. He was married June 7, 1838, to Sarah Coughenour, and to them were born eight children, two of whom died in infancy.
Two sons and four daughters survive their parents, the mother having died about 12 years ago. Mr. Miler was of moral character and habits and respected the Christian religion, although he never united with any religious organization. He and his wife lived happily together until death separated them, and he is spoken of as a kind and affectionate husband and indulgent father.
The funeral service at Mr. Binkerd’s residence Saturday was conducted by Rev. D. Shenton of the Methodist Episcopal church.
