Bertha Anna Rushing was born in Osceola, Iowa, October 29, 1886 and departed this life in Chicago, Illinois, November 3, 1925, aged 39 years and 5 days.

She was united in marriage November 29, 1902 to Edward Lewis Phillips. To this union there were born two children, Lewis J. and Zelda May. Lewis preceded his mother in death at 11 days of age. She united with the Methodist Protestant church early in life, remaining faithful to her Lord and church. She leaves to mourn their loss one daughter, Zelda May, of Chicago, father and mother, Thos. D and Lucinda Rushing, of Osceola; four sisters and five brothers, Mrs. Garl Miller of Osceola, Mrs. E. F. Jackson of North Dakota, Mrs. Grant Oliver of Omaha, Nebr., Mrs. Thos. Brophy of Chicago, Ill., Oscar Rushing of Osceola, Lon Rushing of Omaha, Nebr., Walter Rushing of Omaha, Nebr., and Roy Rushing of New Mexico, besides a host of friends and other relatives.
