T. P. Chambers

Thomas Patterson Chambers, the son of Joseph and Mary Chambers was born near Perryopolis, Pennsylvania March 14, 1844, and passed from this life at his home in Osceola, September 30, 1924, his age at this time being 80 years, 6 months and 16 days.

When but a child one year old he came with his parents to Henry county, Iowa, and in the year 1855, when a boy about 11 years old, he came to live in Clarke county, and has spent the most of his life near and in Osceola. He was united in marriage to Mary Lois Youtsey September 26, 1878, and to this union five children were born, four boys and one girl-Freddie and Delbert who died in infancy, Edward, O. T. and Joseph E. of Osceola, and Mrs. Mabelle Page of Woodburn. He leaves to mourn their loss, his loving companion, his three children, three grandchildren, three sisters-Mrs. Sarah A. Johnson and Mrs. Nancy J. Stafford of Nevada, Mo., Mrs. Richard E. Coppock of Hot Springs, Ark, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He united with the M. E. church in early manhood and later joined the M. P. church in Osceola, always a devoted Christian and leading an exemplary life.

He was a kind and loving father, a good neighbor and a loyal citizen, always ready and willing to lend a helping hand in time of need. Two sisters, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Stafford, were unable to be present on account of sickness.

His wife and children and Mr. and Mrs. John Coppock were with him in the last sad hours and everything was done that loving hands could do to relieve his suffering, but to no avail.

He was prepared to go and often expressed the wish to be at rest and to meet the loved ones gone on before.

Funeral services were conducted at the home and at the M. E. church of Woodburn by F. D. Weston. Interment at Woodburn cemetery.
