Mrs. M. L. Chambers

Mrs. Mary Lois Chambers answered death's summons at her home in Derby, Iowa, on the night of Monday, April 29th, after having passed her 71st year of her life. After funeral services held from the home at 12:30 P. M., Wednesday the remains were taken to Woodburn by the Osceola Funeral Home hearse where another service was held at 2:30 P. M., from the M. E. church and interment was made in the Woodburn cemetery. Woodburn was Mrs. Chambers home for many years.

Mrs. Pat Chambers

Mary Lois Youtsey was born January 1, 1858 at Melrose, Iowa, and departed this life at her home in Derby, Iowa, April 29, 1929, at the age of 71 years, 2 months and twenty-three days.

In 1878 she was united in marriage to Thomas P. Chambers near Woodburn, Clarke county, Iowa. To this union five children were born, Ed. of Derby, Joe of Osceola, Mrs. Sam Page of Woodburn, and two baby boys, Fredie and Bertie, who preceded her in death.

In early life she was united with the Christian church at East Chapel, near Osceola, was a true Christian and an active member as long as health permitted.

Besides her immediate family she is survived by six grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Davis, Almena, Kansas, Mrs. Ola Goatley of Larned, Kansas, and Ida of Spokane, Washington. Also two brothers, Sherman of St. John, Kansas, and Charles of Pawnee Rock, Kansas, besides numerous other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Chambers was taken ill with the flu eleven day ago and until the last few days was not considered critical, but her advanced age could not withstand the ravages of the malady.

She was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother. She will be missed among the friends and acquaintances that she acquired wherever she lived.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Woodburn at 2:30 p. m. and burial was made in the Woodburn cemetery.
