John Reynolds

John Reynolds was born in Gallion county, Ohio, November 26, 1821 and died at his late home in Osceola, Iowa, February 16, 1907, at the advanced age of eighty-five years, two months and twenty days. In 1843 he was married to Eliza Hatfield. To this union ten children were born six of whom are living and two present at the funeral.

He was married again in 1864 to Eliza Wallace and in 1874 to Eliza Holmes. In 1885 he married Eliza Arnold, to which union two children were born; both are living.

Mr. Reynolds was converted years ago and joined the Free Will Baptists. He was a member of the G. A. R. Enlisted in August 1862 in Co. D. 30th, Iowa Volunteers and was honorably discharged in June 1865.

He was in many engagements, was with Sherman in his March to the Sea. His closest call was at Parker's Cross Roads when a bullet struck his belt buckle and doubled it over. This deflected the bullet and saved his life. The funeral service was at the home Monday morning conducted by Rev. A. A. Walburn. The G. A. R. Post attended in a body and conducted this service at the cemetery.
