While engaged in farming Mr. Banker studied law and passed the bar May 11, 1898, whereupon he and his family moved to Osceola where he engaged in the practice of law for many years, serving two terms as county attorney.

Following the death of his wife in June, 1922, he made his home with his son for nearly fifteen years. The deceased has been in failing health for a long period of time. Throughout his infirmity he has been kindly and tenderly cared for by his son and daughter-in-law.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, his wife and daughter, and leaves to mourn his passing the son, Joseph N. and two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Cook of Murray, Iowa, and Mrs. Harriett Stubblefield of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, also many other relatives and friends.
