Family will greet friends at the Murray Church of Christ for fellowship and lunch following the graveside service.

Marjorie Marie Hopkins Black was born on November 11, 1926 to Roy and Nola (McDowell) Hopkins in Grand River, Iowa and passed from this life on October 16, 2019 at the Southern Hills Specialty Care Center in Osceola, Iowa at 92 years of age.

She grew up on a farm near Grand River and graduated from Grand River School in 1945. After graduating she taught school south of Grand River for a time before moving to Osceola and working at Snowdens.

She was united in marriage to Marvin Westley Black on March 26, 1949. Three children were born to this union. They lived in the the Grand River and Hopeville areas until they moved to Murray where she became employed at the Murray Community Schools as a cook. She worked there for 37 years until her retirement in 1998.

She enjoyed many hobbies, including cross stitch, knitting, embroidery, crochet and puzzle books. She treasured time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who fondly referred to her as 'Grandma Cookie'.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents Roy & Nola Hopkins, husband Marvin Black; daughter in infancy Carolyn Ann Black, twin granddaughters Toni Marie and Tammi Ann Mills, great granddaughter Anna Marie Stowers, brothers Hoyle Hopkins, Carl Hopkins, Don Hopkins, brothers-in-law Dean Hutcheson, Frank Palmer, sisters-in-law Lela Hopkins, Kathy Hopkins, niece Sheryl Hutcheson and nephew Eugene Norris.
