The Osceola Tribune , Osceola, Iowa
October 10, 1933 , page 1

Mary Armilda Johnson, eldest child of Noble and Nancy Jane Johnson, was born in Des Moines county, Iowa, September 30, 1854. In her early childhood she came with her parents to Clarke county and has been a constant resident since.

She was married to Titus F. Bonham September 3, 1875. To this union were born two children Harry E. who died at the age of 9 years, and Nellie Alice who survives.

When but a baby, a nephew, Roy Crew, was taken into this home, where he was loved as a devoted son. Mr. and Mrs. Bonham had made a real home for several motherless nieces and nephews at different times during their married life. At the present time, little June Archer, a great niece, is being loved and cared for in the home.

Mr. Bonham passed away in the year 1918. Mrs. Bonham has one surviving brother, Leslie Johnson, who lives at Lyons, Kansas.

The deceased has long been a member of the Christian church, and while not always able to attend the past year or two, loved it.

Her passing was sudden, falling into the arms of Nellie, as they did some kitchen duties, side by side. She counted her friends by the score, and her going leaves an emptiness in the lives of Nellie and Roy.

Funeral services were conducted at 2.30 p. m. Sunday from the Webster Funeral Home by the Rev. F. Clare McCallon. Burial in Green Bay cemetery.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral of Mrs. Bonham were W. R. Buchanan, Mrs. Francis Williams and son Ward, Mrs. Everett Gabeline and Mrs. Owen McKim of Mt. Union, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. C. A. White, R. O. Bonham and Mrs. Jay Mandine and son Charles of Omaha, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Will Myers, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Myers and Mrs. Joe Hamilton of Creston, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Bonham and son Max, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jackson and son Norman, and Mr. Jackson's mother, of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hedges, Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Hedges, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Marts and children, Margaret, Bob, Jack and Elaine, Lucille Hedges and Fred Ellston, of Kellerton, Iowa. A brother, Leslie Johnson, of Lyons, Kansas, was unavoidably delayed enroute and was unable to attend the funeral, but arrived Monday morning. He will remain for several days' visit.
