Titus F. Bonham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Smiley H. Bonham was born in Johnson County, Iowa near Iowa City on Nov. 14, 1853 and died in Osceola, March 18, 1918, age 64 years, 4 months and 4 days.

In 1869 with his parents and brothers and sisters he came to Clarke County and settled on a farm near Leslie. In September 1875 he was united in marriage to Mary Johnson. This union was blessed with two children, Harry E. who departed this life at the early age of nine years and Nellie, who with her mother, remains to mourn the departure of a loving and kind husband and father.

When but a small child there came into the home a boy who in a great measure took the place of the boy that had been called from it. This was Roy Crew who is now serving his country and doing his part to make the world a great democracy. Although he was no blood relation, being a nephew of Mrs. Bonham, Mr. Bonham took this little fellow into his life and affections as though he were his own son. The relationship between these two has been all that could have been desired between a father and son.

Besides those of the immediate household, who feel their loss so sorely, there also remain to mourn three brothers, James M. of Kalona, Leander L. of Creston and Lewis C. of Des Moines, also two sisters, Mrs. Henry Moomey of this city and Mrs. G.B. Williams of Murdo, S.Dakota and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bonham when but a boy united with the church of Christ and continued to be a faithful member until his death. One of the many sterling traits in his character was his honesty and integrity and when his death became known it was the universal comment that a good man had gone. For a good many years Mr. Bonham has been a resident of Osceola and although a quiet unassuming man he has held an exceptionally high place in the hearts of our people and his passing is sincerely regretted by all.

The funeral was held at the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock conducted by Rev. W.C. Cole of Des Moines. Interment was made in Green Bay cemetery

Relatives from out of town who came for the funeral were Roy R. Crew of Camp Dodge, J.M. Bonham and son W.R. Bonham of Kalona, Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Bonham and son Roy of Creston, Mr. L.C. and Mrs. J.R. Bonham of Des Moines, Fred Bonham and daughter Mrs. Ernest Manning of Beaconsfield, Mr. A.L. Feese of Tabor, Mr. Leslie Johnson of Roggen, Colorado, Mr. P.H. Bonham of Aledo, Ill., J.M. Hedges of Des Moines, Wm. Hedges of Iowa Falls, and Mrs. Chas Wade of Lincoln, Nebraska.
