Mary Ann Gibson was born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania, 1821. Died in Clarke county, Iowa, January 9.1904, aged eighty-three years. She was united in marriage with Robert Boden in Pennsylvania in 1854. They came to Clarke county, Iowa, in 1856, and settled in Liberty township.

Unto them were born three children, John W., Frances A. and Edward C. who died in infancy. Frances A. grew to womanhood and married Isaac Stacy. She has since gone to the better world. John W. Boden, of Osceola, is now the only living child. One brother D. P. Gibson of Uniontown, Pa. survives, the other brother H. P. died last July.

Robert Boden, the husband and father, departed this life in 1862 and Mrs. Boden was united in marriage with Wm. Wharff in 1868. He is still living.

She became a Christian and united with the Baptist church in the days of her youth. About four years ago she fell down stairs. Since that time she has been afflicted with heart trouble, Her last illness was of short duration. Her age and ill health had reduced her strength until she was an easy victim to the dread disease, pneumonia. She talked about "the end" and said she was willing and anxious to go. "Her end was peace,"

The funeral services were held at the residence at 11 a.m. Monday, Rev. Carson of the M.E. church preached the sermon. The remains were laid to rest in the Liberty cemetery where her first husband and two children are laying.
