The last clear call came early in the morning August 3, 1943, for one of Murray's oldest and most respected ladies, Mary Swabb who was well known in Murray and vicinity, having spent much of her life on a farm southwest of Murray.

Mary E. Moon was born January 23, 1858 near Ottumwa, Iowa and came with her parents to Clarke county when a small girl. She was the oldest of a family of nine children.

She united with the Christian church in Hopeville when 16 years of age, later moving her membership to Murray where she was a faithful attendant until health failed.

She was united in marriage with Geo W. Swabb January 7, 1879, who preceded her in death three years ago. To this union were given two children, John Guy who preceded her in death June 9, 1930 and Mrs. Rilea who resides in Murray.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, three sisters and two brothers. Two sisters and one brother survive, Fannie Boswell of Des Moines; Nell Moon of Des Moines and Cora White of Minneapolis, Minn. She also leaves seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who will greatly miss her.

Services were conducted in the Church of Christ, Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Burial in the Murray cemetery, Watts Funeral Home in charge.
