Milo Adams was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, February 14, 1832 and died near Osceola, Iowa, Aug. 29, 1907, age 75 years, 7 months and 15 days. He came to early manhood in West Virginia and enlisted in the Civil war in Company C, First Virginia Inft. in 1861 and was honorably discharged in 1865. He came to Iowa in 1869 and located on a farm in Decatur County and remained here 9 years when he moved to Osceola, Iowa. He was married to Martha Elizabeth Herriott at Morristown in 1852. To this union 8 children were born, 6 sons and 2 daughters, all of whom still survive as follows: Elizabeth Lorelle Dunaway of Dallas, Texas, George Virgil of Chicago, Ill., James Milton, of Chicago, John Quincy, of Denver, Col., Eva Doan Decker of San Francisco, Charles Sumner, of Denver, Milo Jr. of Clarke Co., Iowa and Lawrence Eugene of Chicago. The two daughters and one son could not be present.

His wife died in 1883, 24 years ago. Ever since his home was broken up and he has lived with the children at different times except when he chose to go to the Old Soldier's Home in Leavenworth, Kansas. He was converted and joined the M.E. church in Hebron, near Weldon. Afterwards he united with the same church in Osceola. Another old soldier has answered the final Roll Call. The writer was shown a State Medal made of gun Metal, given to this man by West Virginia, upon which was inscribed, "Honorably Discharged."

May every soldier in our midst so live that God, not only will give them an honorable discharge from life's work, but also crown them with Eternal Life. The funeral services were held at the home of Milo Adams, Jr., Rev. A. A. Walburn of Osceola preaching the sermon. The interment was in the beautiful cemetery of Osceola where his body awaits the Resurrection morn. May God sustain the sons and daughters that are left. A.A.W.
