Ankeny

Mary Ann Davis Aringdale was born Jan. 19, 1940, in Osceola to Donald and Eunice (Burgus) Davis. She entered eternal rest on Nov. 23, 2017.

She was raised on the family farm in Clarke County until 1957, when the family moved to the town of Osceola. She attended several country schools until eighth grade, and then attended Clarke County High School, graduating in 1958, after which she was employed by the state of Iowa in Des Moines.

Mary Anne was married to Richard Aringdale on July 16, 1960, and they celebrated their 57th anniversary. They were blessed with three daughters, Lori (Charles) Kissell of Creston, Rebecca Aringdale of Ankeny and Deena (Jeff) Leonard of Johnston; sister Margaret Harned of Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Ahdri Evans) Kissell, Randi (Bryan) Allen, Rikki (Travis Brockett) Kissell and Reid (Brittany Smith) Kissell, Justin Aringdale, Adam Logsdon, Anna Logsdon, Xavier Leonard and Arik Logsdon; seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Dalton and Kamdin Allen, Evelyn Evans, Jarrett and Brooklyn Kissell and Aiden Brockett and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Throughout their married lives, they lived in several parts of the state and finally settled in Ankeny. Mary Anne was fortunate to be able to start her career over in each city in which she lived. She was a legal typist, a hospital records clerk, a personnel secretary at an electronics factory and twice at Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.

Mary Anne and Richard enjoyed many years of activities together as a couple. They were members of the Union County Saddle Club in Creston, avid bicycle riders and golfers in Bettendorf, spent many happy times with their group of friends in Ankeny and were wine enthusiasts and judges in Denison. When they returned to Ankeny in 1995, they became travelers enjoying their retirement together. Mary Anne was also a lifetime member of the Social Sorority Beta Sigma Phi, which she joined in 1965 and a member of the Red Hat Society.

Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Eunice (Burgus) Davis, parents-in-law, Denzel and Helen Aringdale, brother Gerald Davis and Brother-in-law John Aringdale.
