Joseph Wesley Green, was born in Clark county, Iowa, on November 23 1861 and departed this life at the home in Longmont Colorado, Sept 8, 1932 at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 15 days. He was converted and joined the Methodist church at the age of 12, remaining a consistent member until death. Membership was held at St. Edward, Nebraska.

He was married to Nannie Richey on December 24, 1882, at Osceola, Iowa. To this union were born four sons, Willie who died at the age of 18 years, Georgie who died in infancy and Ernest and Charles who with their wives remain to mourn the death of a kind and devoted father. His life companion preceded him in death June 6, 1924. Besides these children he is survived by one brother, Samuel, of Pittsburg, Kansas and two sisters, Mrs. Alice McIntosh, of Lincoln Nebraska and Mrs. Ella Day of Comstock Nebraska. He also leaves six grandchildren, Mrs. Ruby Lukenbach, of St. Edward, Mrs. Edna Holland, Ernest Jr., Wesley, Sammie and Lillian Green all of Longmont.

Services were held from the M. E. Church at Longmont Colorado, on Sept 11, 1932 at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Warren Bainbridge of Denver officiating. The body was laid to rest amid a profusion of flowers, beside that of his wife in Mountain View Cemetery.

Those attending the services from out of town were Samuel Green, of Pittsburgh, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Joy Green, Mr. and Mrs. Wm Reese, all of Elwood Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Millard Day and Lester Lukenbach all of St Edward, Mrs Ellen Day of Comstock Nebraska, and Mr. and Mrs Ed Culver of Milliken, Colorado.

In the death of Mr. Green, this community were he made his home for more than 20 years prior to moving to Colorado suffers the loss of a respected neighbor and a kind and thoughtful friend. "Uncle Wes" will be mourned by a host of friends here.
