Alfred E. Palmer was born January 1, 1826, died March 24, 1904, aged seventy-eight years, two months and twenty-three days. He was married to Nancy McCumber in Ohio, December 12, 1849. To this union were born three children - two girls and one boy, the latter preceding him to the better land. His wife passed away in August, 1861.

He was married to Mary Linder in 1863 and to this union were born two children; Mrs. Lieu Adye and Charley Palmer of Osceola. Deceased united with the M.E. church in 1859 and in 1888 united with his home Christian church of which he has been a faithful member, dying rich in faith, expressing a desire to go and be at rest but bearing his long and protracted illness without murmuring, being an invalid for two years and nine months. Often at the hour of midnight he sang praises to God. one favorite being "In Heaven Above Where All is Love"

Funeral services were hold at Hopeville March 26th conducted by Rev. E.C. Lee, attended by a large number of friends of the deceased, who came to pay a last tribute to one whom they had long known and respected for his uprightness.
