Ruth Ann Luce was born in Penobscot county, Maine, April 14, 1844, and died at the home of her brother Richard Luce in Osceola, Ia., March 16, 1907, aged 62 years, 10 months and 28 days.

She came to Illinois with her parents in 1854 and lived there until about the year 1866 when she removed to Clarke county where she has since resided. She was united in marriage to David Emery Jan. 1st 1879. Her husband preceded her to the spirit world about seven years ago. In early life the deceased gave her heart to God. On coming to Iowa she united with the M.P. church in Doyle township Clarke county and has always lived a consistent Christian life.

She has been an invalid since the age of 14. Her affliction gradually grew worse with age, and the last year she has been entirely helpless. She bore her sufferings patiently and was resigned to the will of the Master until he said unto her, “You have suffered enough, come home.”

She leaves to mourn four brothers, viz., Richard of Osceola, Wm. S., of Knox township, Isaac of Iola, Kan., S.M. of Merne, Neb., and one sister now of Oklahoma, besides many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services at the home of her brother Richard in Oceola March 17, conducted by Rev. C. J. Nutt. Interment in the Sanders cemetery in Doyle township.
