John E. Wick was born at Marion, Ohio, August 20, 1831. Died at Lorimor, Iowa February 10, 1905, aged 73 years, 5 months and 21 days. He came when a child to Scott county, Iowa and lived there until 1852, when he moved to California where he engaged in mining until 1868 when he returned to Scott county, Iowa where he was united in marriage to Emma T. Hubbard, coming from there to Murray, then called Oakland, the same year. He lived at Murray until a little over a year ago when he moved with his wife and son to Lorimor where he remained until his death.

Mr. Wick was the father of six children, who survive him: Mrs. Kitty Kelley of Mason City, Iowa; Mrs. Susie Sonners of Wiliamsburg, Nebraska; Mrs. Louie Donner of Murray; Mrs. Edith Donner of Lorimor; John Wick of Macksburg, and Herbert who lived at home with his parents. Mr. Wick was one of the earliest settlers of Murray.
