It was a shock to the community last week when the news came of the death of Cord Johnson at Riverton, Wyoming, on Wednesday, August 18. He was a carpenter by trade and on Monday fell from the second story scaffolding of a building; breaking one arm, collar bone and three ribs and receiving internal injuries from which he died after an interval of terrible suffering lasting three days.

His son Charles, who was working 35 miles away, came to him as soon as possible after the accident, cared for him until his death, and accompanied the body to Osceola, arriving here Friday evening where the wife and daughter Verna awaited them, having come here on a visit only a week previous.

The funeral services were held from the home of his father, F. Wesley Johnson, at 11 o'clock Sunday morning, conducted by Rev. Howry of the M. P. church, assisted by Rev. Robb. The interment was made in the Maple Hill cemetery, the W.O.W. lodge having' charge of the services at the grave.

Cord S. Johnson, the youngest son of Freeborn Wesley Johnson, was born in Osceola, October 28, 1862, grew to manhood here and was married March 20, 1884 to Miss Ella Long of near Murray.

Most of his life was lived in Osceola; a few years in Sacramento, California, and the last four in Wyoming. He has two sons and one daughter living. The oldest son, Glenn, is a civil engineer and was surveying miles away in the mountains and could not be reached with the sad news in time to come to the funeral. The sorrowing ones have the heartfelt sympathy of all.
