Roy Rushing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Rushing, was born at Osceola, Iowa, on March 23, 1903, and passed on to his heavenly home on the 23rd of December, 1956. He was married November of 1926, to Miss Frieda Heringer, who remained a faithful wife and loving companion to the end of his earthly life.

Most of Roy’s adult life was spent as a groceryman, in which business he won many friends by his friendly, courteous treatment of all. He was in the grocery business in Imperial, Nebr., for many years and one of the hardest things he had to do was sell the store when failing health forced him to retire from the work he loved so well, and with his family he moved from their home in Imperial, to Colorado. Roy served as member of the city council in Imperial and was a member of the Imperial Odd Fellow lodge.

The most important day of his life was January 26, 1955, when he personally accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and friend.
The end came quietly in the family home in Lakewood, Colo., a suburb of Denver, after a month of patient suffering. Since his passing came unexpectedly, only his wife was with him at the last.
Remaining to remember the happy days together, in addition to his life’s companion: five children, all of Denver, Florence McDonald, Betty Miller, Barbara, Sharon and Roy, Jr.; sisters, Mrs. L. A. Barker, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Clara Jurgensen, Omaha, Nebr., Mrs. E.F. Jackson, Spokane Wash., and brother, Oscar Rushing, Osceola, Iowa, nieces and nephews, and relatives and many friends will greatly miss Roy’s cheerful smile and friendly greeting.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 26, at the Chapel of the Angels in Lakewood, Colo. Pastor Ray Ransom of Denver, formerly of Imperial, gave the message, assisted by Dr. Allen Williams, pastor of the Baptist church of Lakewood.

Casket bearers were five nephews, Sam Miller, Leslie Storhaug, Dwane Storhaug, Pete Miller and Don Chambers and Jerry Ransom.
Interment was at the cemetery at Fort Collins, Colo.
