Robert Gordon Kerr, youngest son of Lon and. Elsie Funston Kerr, was born in Clarke county, Iowa, August 20, 1905, and died April 8, 1955.
He attended New Virginia and Osceola grade schools and Osceola high school. He has farmed in Jackson township the past six years. He has been active with the PMA for 15 years.
The last two summers were spent operating a pony ride, a childhood ambition.
Gordon was very active in sports in school days and attended them in later years.

He was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his wife, Theresa, and daughter, Marna Kay. He was preceded in death by his son, James Roland; his parents, Lon and Elsie Kerr; his brother, Guy, and two sisters who died in infancy. He also leaves a host relatives and friends.
He attended Osceola Methodist church.
Services were Monday, April 11 at 2 p.m. at the Webster funeral home. Rev. Azel L. Smith officiating.

Gordon Kerr Rites Held Here Monday
Well-known Osceola Farmer Taken By Heart Attack

Funeral services were held at the Webster funeral home Monday afternoon for Gordon Kerr, 49. The Rev. Azel Smith officiated and burial was at Osceola.
Kerr, widely-known for his raising and training of ponies, died of a heart attack on his farm Friday morning. He was stricken while working on his pony show equipment, preparatory to giving rides to children in Osceola Saturday as part of a retail sales promotion here.

His was the third unexpected death in the Kerr family within the past four years. A brother, Guy, died when struck by lightning on his farm in May, 1951. His son, James, was Killed in an automobile accident in December, 1953.

He was married on May 5, 1931 to Theresa Rowland, who survives.
He farmed in Jackson township for the past six years, and was active in PMA work for 15 years.
The last two summers he realized a childhood ambition when he operated a pony ride, touring with a carnival.
Gordon, in his school days, was very active in sports In later years he was an ardent fan of local high school sports.

A devoted husband and father, he attended the Methodist church here.He is survived by a daughter, Marna Kay, in addition to his wife. His parents, son James Roland, brother Guy and three sisters who died in infancy preceded him in death.
