Robert Agans Sheesley

'Bob'

Robert Agans Sheesley was born in Creston on May 15, 1920, to Ada B. Dobbs Sheesley and Claude Leo Sheesley. From a young age he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Bill and Stella Agans of Murray. After graduating from Murray High School he attended and graduated from aircraft machinist school in Lincoln, Neb. Later during World War II he was assigned to Bell Aircraft in Brooklyn, N. Y., from 1940 - 1944 as a supervisor.

He and his wife Gladys Purdy owned and managed several businesses in Murray and Clarke County. The couple had four children, twin boys, Bill and Bob and two daughters, Patty and Marlene. He married Nona on May 10, 1981. She had three sons, Larry, Gary and Bruce.

After retirement in the early 1990s, Bob and Nona bought and remodeled several homes in Creston and Bella Vista, Ark., areas. They enjoyed fixing up and modernizing these homes and they helped several young couples get a start in their first home.

Preceding Mr. Sheesley in death were his parents; his wife Gladys; a son Bob; two daughters, Patty and Marlene; two stepsons, Gary and Larry, six brothers, Earl Sheesley, Jim Sheeesley, Galen Sheesley, Paul Sheesley, Gerald Agans, and Roscoe Agans and two sisters, Marjory Melick and Darlene Link.

He is survived by his wife Nona Sheesley of Creston; a son Bill Sheesley and wife Sharon of Murray; a stepson, Bruce Elledge of Cruise Bay, Wash.; a brother, Harold of Des Moines; two sisters, Evelyn Glass of Indianola and Bernice Gray of Osceola; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Shhesley were May 3 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Pastor Dwayne Henrichs officiating. Organist was Pennie Gonseth and the soloist was Marjorie Horton. Musical selections were Peace In the Valley and In the Garden.

Masonic Rites were by Osceola Lodge 77 A. F. & A. M.

Casket bearers were Wm. R. "Willie" Agans, Les Sheesley, Bruce Holtry, Richard Dillinger, Dick Dillinger and Harold "Pete" Peterson. Honorary bearers were Raymond and Doris Rickets, Carl Dooley and Johnny Porter. Interment was in the Murray Cemetery at Murray.
