Obituary.

Death has again cast the shadow of sorrow over the community and home of our neighbor and friend W. H. Smith when the eldest of the children, Clara Cecil was taken from the family circle. She was born in Clarke county, Iowa, August 24, 1885, and lived here all her life. For the last three months she had been failing rapidly until ten days before her death, while the family were moving to Indianola where they expect to make their home for some time, Cecil was taken suddenly worse at the home of her sister Mrs. Mamie Cochran, near Liberty and on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, April 18, 1907, she peacefully fell asleep. Eleven years ago she was converted and united with the United Brethren church and lived an active faithful Christian life. She was a member of the young peoples Christian Union and Epworth League and was always found ready and willing to do her part. Her influence will not soon be forgotten.

The funeral services were conducted from the U. B. church at Liberty, by Rev. L. O. Sanderson of Marquette, Nebraska, assisted by the pastor, Rev. De Monbrun. The esteem in which she was held by all who know her was shown, by the large congregation gathered at the church to pay their last tribute of respect. Father, mother, four sisters and one brother and a number of other relatives together with the many friends are left to mourn her untimely death.
