Beverly Jean Smith, 67, daughter of James Rufus McDowell and Thelma Lucille (Jones) McDowell was born January 17, 1946 in Leon, Iowa and passed from this life Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at her home in Woodburn, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Beverly has lived most of her life in the Osceola area. She lived a few years in the Sioux City area from 1975 to 1988, when she returned to Osceola. She was a nurse and worked for the Clarke County Hospital and Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola.

She enjoyed staying busy with crocheting, painting flower pots, listening to music, raising flowers and having a garden. In her younger years she enjoyed billiards and was State Champion. She loved time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those relatives who preceded Beverly in death were her father, James Rufus McDowell; infant son, Bryan Keith Smith; sister, Bernice McDole; half-brother, Jim McDowell; and nephew, Jesse McDole.
