Mrs. Louisa Cloyd died at the home of her son, Green Cloyd, January 5th of lung fever. She was 79 years, 4 months and 19 days old, having been born in South Park, Kentucky, August 17, 1813.

She leaves six children and eighteen grand-children. She came to this county in 1889. She was baptized into the church of Latter Day Saints, and lived a true and faithful Christian until death.

Her life had the eventful history of a southern slave woman in it, freed by the Lincoln proclamation, and after being long lost to her family, they found her and brought her to them here in Clarke county. She was buried January 7th.
