Rites Saturday

Cemetery Sexton Died At
Age 78 After Illness
Of Several Months

Roscoe Milo Preston, 78 year old resident of Clarke county for half a century and sexton of the Osceola cemeteries for 15 years died Wednesday at the Clarke county hospital. He had been in ill health for several months.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Webster Funeral Home with Rev. Azel L. Smith, pastor of the First Methodist church, and Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Christian church, officiating. Burial will be in the Woodburn cemetery.

The son of Lidge and Alice Lewallen Preston, he was born Oct. 9, 1879, at David City, Nebr. His family moved to Illinois where he received his education before coming to Clarke county as a young man.

On July 5, 1913, he was united in marriage with Edna Lowe at Osceola.

Mr. Preston had been a farmer all of his adult life until he took over the position of sexton of the local cemeteries.

He is survived by his widow, two daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Gertrude) Gardner of Beardstown, Ill., and Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Crabb of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandsons, Gerald Gardner, Jr., and Richard Crabb, and a granddaughter, Karen Crabb. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.
