Bryant Rushing was born August 11, 1824 in Robertson county, Tennessee, died in Osceola, Iowa May 24, 1903, age 78 years, 9 months, and 11 days.
When 8 yrs of age he moved with his parents to Pike county Illinois, where he grew into manhood, was educated and
married Johan Ward, June 9, 1844. He continued to live here awhile and after 1860 in various places in Missouri and Iowa until his removal to Osceola, Clarke county in 1867, where he has lived ever since.

He was the father of 9 children, 5 boys and 4 girls, of whom 3 are dead. He held his faith in Christ though all the vicissitudes of the years and died complacently. Mr Rushing has been a weakly man for many years but worked on uncomplaining until his death. He was taken with neuralgia of the heart after building a fire and doing his morning chores and coming in the house and laying down, when he died before the doctor could be summoned.

The funeral was conducted by the writer from the Christian church after which the remains were interred at Maple Hill cemetery. His aged wife and children have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
