Lettie Kelley

Lettie May Kelley, daughter of Joseph and Harriet Kelley, was born October 1, 1864 and passed away June 13, 1954.

Lettie attended country school in Ward township.

Her father died when she was about five years old. After her mother died Lettie kept house for her brother Charles.

In 1900 Lettie and Charles went to Colorado and took out a government claim on a section of land. They lived there until 1937 when they sold out and came to Osceola.

Lettie has been living in a nursing home since her brother died in 1947.

In 1953 she went to Murray and lived in the Nellie Spare nursing home.

Lettie was the last of the Kelleys. Nine brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Lettie leaves to mourn several nieces and nephews and one brother-in-law.

Lettie loved her home and her hobby was singing. In early life she joined the Methodist church, in Ward township.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, June 15 at the Watts Funeral home in Murray. The Rev. Lacy Thompson of Murray officiated.

Musical selections were by Mrs. Chas. Jeter and Mrs. Stella Claver with Mrs. C. W. Arnold accompanist. Casket bearers were Merrill Dean, James Worden, George Petrie, Lon Farley and W. A. Lyons. Burial in Frame cemetery.
