Almarine Mateer
Dies Wed.

Almarine Mae Mateer, 75, of 919 W. Jefferson in Osceola, died Wednesday, February 20 at her home. Services were held Saturday, February 23 at the Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. Neville Clayton officiating at the 1:30 p.m. rites. Interment was in the Maple Hill cemetery, Osceola.

Almarine Mae Mateer was born May 9, 1909 in Manilla, Iowa to Mondel Hays and Margaret Umland. She attended school in Manilla and was married to Harry Clayton Mateer on July 31, 1927 in Clarinda. Nine children were born to this union.

Surviving relatives include: a daughter Maxine McCabe and husband, James of LaMirada, California; a daughter, Betty Jean Townsend and husband, Frank of Osceola, a daughter, Shirley Hamilton and husband, Herbert of Lucas, a son, Clayton E. Mateer and wife, Sue of Walnut, Kansas; a son, Roy Earl Mateer and wife, Nancy of Osceola; a daughter, Linda Patro and husband, Wayne of Rochester, New York; a son, Larry Mateer and wife, Edna of Rolla, Missouri; 26 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Cecil Loomis of Des Moines and one brother, Chester Hays of Osceola.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Lois Darlene and Lola Smith; three brothers, Roscoe, Sears and George, and one sister, Maxine Vawn.
