Death of Mrs. Ruth Page

Wednesday morning, shortly after 11 o'clock, December 5th, our much loved and respected neighbor, Mrs. Thomas Page passed quietly away at her home three miles east of Woodburn, aged sixty nine years, one month and twenty days. She had been ailing for some time with the dreadful disease (cancer of the stomach) but was confined to her bed a little over a week. She bore her affliction bravely and many times she expressed her willingness to go and that she was ready. The funeral services were held at the Ottawa church, conducted by Rev. Church. The attendance was very large, showing the high esteem in which the deceased was held. The following obituary was read at the funeral:

"Mrs. Ruth Holmes Page was born in Willingham, Cambridgeshire, England, on October 15th, 1825. She crossed the ocean when six years old and came to Lockport, New York, where she made her home until her marriage to Mr. Robert Allgood. She lived in Cincinnati, Ohio until the death of her husband in 1849, when she went to Delaware, Illinois where she made her home with her parents. She was united in marriage March 4, 1852 to Mr. Thomas Page, who survives her. They lived in Delaware, Illinois until 1877, when they came to Woodburn, Clarke county, where they have since made their home. Beside three brothers, John, Alfred and Richard Holmes, one sister, Mrs. Edott, the deceased leaves four children, Robert Allgood, of Pekin, Illinois, Mary A. Root, Thomas C. and James H. Page and a living husband to mourn her loss." A little daughter, Allean Page died in infancy. Mrs. Page's twin sister, Mrs. LaBee and their brother J. Holmes have died within this year.
