Elmer D. Goodrich

Elmer D. Goodrich, son of John and Mary (Gracey) Goodrich was born on January 26, 1885, on a farm near Truro, Iowa, and passed away in the Clarke County Public Hospital April 23, 1970, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 19 days.

Elmer received his education in the public schools of Madison county.

He married Maude Irene Killam of Truro on October 31, 1906, in Osceola, Iowa.

He farmed for a number of years in Madison county. Leaving the farm he moved to Murray, Iowa, in 1934 and went into the seed business for a number of years until ill health forced him to retire.

Thirteen children were born to this union. Survivors include his wife, Maude and 10 children, Mary Cowie of Murray, Ralph D. of Indianola, John J. of Osceola, Opal Smith of Osceola, Dorothy Rolfe of Portland, Oregon, Frank of Des Moines, Ray E. of Osceola, Clara Wilburn of Agency, Iowa, Mack L. of Des Moines, Peggy Pascall of Des Moines. Also two brothers, Frank B. of Osceola and Harry of Franklin, Nebr., and a host of friends and relatives including Glen's widow, Wanda.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mable, two sons, Glen and Kenneth and two grandsons.

Rev. James Seibert conducted the 2 p.m. service Saturday, April 25, from the Murray United Methodist Church and he was laid to rest in the Fields Cemetery.
