Mrs. Sarah Goodrich

Mrs. Sarah Goodrich, aged 75 years, passed away at her home in Osceola Wednesday. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at Cool, Iowa by Rev. F. C. McCallon and interment was made in the Shaver cemetery.

Sarah Melissa Morris, daughter of Mercer and Elizabeth Morris, was born in Warren county, Iowa, December 13, 1861, and departed from this life at her home in Osceola June 2, 1937, at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 20 days. She was married to Neriah Goodrich December 13, 1881, who departed from this life July 23, 1924. To this union were born six children: Geneva Maude Canney, Katherine Carson and Andrew Morris Goodrich, all of Osceola, who were present at her passing; Alma Root of Basin, Wyoming, who was unable to be here and Clara Bessie dying in infancy, and Clifford Neriah Goodrich deceased; also six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Three sisters survive, Mary Ellen Shupe of Lacona, Anna Pierce of Egan So. Dakota, and her twin sister, Amanda Butler of Indianola, and many other relatives and friends.

She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized in the Christian Union faith by Rev. S. Quick November 12, 1893, and her faith and membership remained in the old church until the end. She attended church as long as her health permitted. A home loving wife and mother, whose only thought was for her children and home. A smile for her friends and a good word, is the sweet remembrance which she leaves.

During her last long illness never a word of complaint of her suffering, always a smile and just fine.

Having made all her funeral arrangements she chose the songs and verse; "Going Down the Valley, One by One," "Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Rock of Ages."
