Rites At Lacona
For J. M. Goodrich

Funeral services were held at Lacona Friday, June 6 for Jesse M. Goodrich who died at an Osceola hospital last Wednesday. The Rev. Otis Ewbank of Osceola officiated.

Goodrich had made his home at Lacona for the past 15 years. For the 59 years previous to that he had lived in Clarke county. His obituary follows:

Jesse M., son of John and Mary Gracey Goodrich was born on a farm northwest of Osceola, July 10, 1879, and died June 4 at the age of 72 years, 10 mos. and 24 days. His entire life was spent in farming in Clarke and Warren counties.

He was the oldest of a family of six boys and two girls. Ray and Frank of Osceola; Elmer of Murray; Harry of Franklin, Nebraska; and Lillie Loomis of Truro, survive him. His mother, father, one brother, Orville, and sister Rosa Turner, preceded him in death.

On March 23, 1903 he was married to Elsie Monical, and to this union nine children were born. Five sons, Carl of Murray; Everett of Lacona, Vern of Omaha; Paul of Lucas; Ross of Afton and four daughters, Inez Clark of Arnolds Park; Hazel Leonard of Chariton; Annabelle Ross of Freeport, Texas; Margaret Leonard of Irving, Texas; all survive him. He also leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife, 12 grandchildren, five daughters-in-law, four sons-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

In early life he was affiliated with the Church of God in the Prairie Grove community.
