Funeral services for Virginia M. Scholl, age 78 will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Virginia passed away, Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be open Friday with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 Friday evening.

Virginia was born August 24, 1933 in rural Clarke County. She moved to Des Moines and lived there until, May 6, 1972 when she married Clarence Scholl in Osceola and they have made their home on the family farm near Osceola. Virginia worked for Clarke County Public Health and was a strong advocate for breast and cervical screening and cancer awareness.

Virginia loved the farm, being outdoors, she enjoyed humming birds, dogs, gardening, canning and mowing the lawn. She loved the time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, badminton, croquet, coloring and legos. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing the saxophone and music.

She was a member of the Osceola First Christian Church, P.T.A., Osceola Eagles, National Bowling Club, and the Osceola Birthday Club.

Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Clark; daughter, Linda Sue Cannon; and sister, Barbara Symonds Philpot.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence of Osceola; daughter, J.M. Sue Taylor of Des Moines; son-in-law, Robert W. Taylor Sr. of St. Marys; daughter, Allison Kendall (Donald Buckingham) of Osceola; mother, Corda Clark of Osceola; grandchildren, Robert W. Taylor Jr. (Dr. Christina) of West Des Moines, Jacqueline L.M. Hyde (Ron) of Des Moines and Jessica L.M. Taylor of Des Moines; great grandchildren, Melani, Katherine, Benjamin and William Taylor and Nicholas Hyde; brother, Robert Gerald Clark (Lynnette) of Osceola as well as other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be directed to "Bras for the Cause" for breast and cervical cancer screenings.
