“Services Friday for Al Wallace”
“Funeral And Burial At Last Chance; Died At Local Hospital On Tuesday”

“Funeral services for Al Wallace who passed away at a local hospital, Tuesday, October 27, will be held from the Last Chance church Friday at 2:30 p.m., followed by interment in the Last Chance cemetery.

Surviving Mr. Wallace are his widow and two sons, Robert and Kermith, both of the Last Chance community.”

“Alvador W. Wallace, son of Isaac and Eliza Wallace, was born May 10, 1868 in Tuscarawas county, Ohio and passed away on October 27, 1942.

When thirteen years of age had moved with his parents to Clarke county, Iowa, where he lived until the time of his passing.

On March 30, 1897, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Erb. Tho this union 3 children were born, Vincelle, who preceded his father in death when but a child, Kermit of Garden Grove, and Robert, of Weldon.

He leaves his widow, companion of 45 years, two sons and 6 grandchildren.

Four of the seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Elmore of Osceola and Mrs. John Myers of Tucson, Arizona; and one brother, Austin of Weldon, are left to mourn his departure.

Funeral services were conducted from the Last Chance Christian church on Tuesday, Oct. 30, with Rev. S. D. Harlan of Van Wert officiating and interment was made in the Last Chance cemetery.

The following verse was read in tribute to Mr. Wallace:
‘A few who have watched me sail away
Will miss my craft from the busy day;
Some friendly barks that were anchored near,
In silent sorrow will drop a tear,
But I shall have sheltered from storm and gale,
And be greeting the friends who have sailed beore
O’er the unknown sea to the unknown shore.’ Lizzie Hardy Clark, author.”
