Rites Sunday for Clyde H. Elmore”
“Disabled Veteran Died Thursday; Buried In Last Chance Cemetery”

“Funeral services for Clyde H. Elmore, who died at his home here Thursday morning, were held Sunday afternoon at the Miller Funeral home with the Rev. Chas. C. Miller of the Christian church officiating. Burial was at Last Chance cemetery in Lucas county.

Clyde Homer Elmore, youngest child of Amos L. and Hattie V. Elmore, was born at Smyrna, Iowa, January 12, 1899 and departed this life December 15, 1949, at his home in Osceola.

He received his education in the schools of Woodburn and Osceola, and Chillicithe College of Telegraphy at Chillicothe, Mo.

He enlisted in the United States Navy on May 9, 1917 and served on the Battleship New York, on which he received his injuries. He was discharged from the service on February 8, 1919, after which he worked at various occupations.
His injuries continued until he could no longer receive employment. Due to cause of his injuries he was forced to spend many months in various hospitals.

He is survived by his mother, three brothers, Vern and Atley of Osceola and Floyd of Crothersville, Indiana; three nephews, three nieces and many friends. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.”
