“Mary C. Westfall”

“Mary C. Westfall, daughter of Thomas B. Abercrombie and Edith Chipman Abercrombie, was born on March 20, 1886, In Schuler County, Illinois, and completed the pilgrimage of this life on December 7, 1970, at the University Hospital at Iowa City, Iowa.

She received her education in Clarke County Schools. On March 10, 1909, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Westfall at Weldon, Iowa. Two children blessed their home. Mary was a life-long resident of Clarke County. She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert on May 1, 1964, and two brothers. Mary is survived by two sons; Harold Eugene Westfall and wife, Alice of Osceola, Iowa and Robert Mansel Westfall and wife, Mildred of Iowa City, Iowa; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Edith Abercrombie of Long Beach, California; two sisters-in-law: Elsie Abercrombie of Lakeland, Florida, and Alma Wallace of Burbank, California.

Mary was a warm radiant person who folks enjoyed being with. She was a spunky, independent lady with a fine sense of humor and a keen memory. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and her many friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 9 at Webster-Kale Home. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.”
