George Wesley Simmerman, Sr., son of Alva and Lizzie Kirk Simmerman was born on May 23, 1916 in Clarke Co, IA and passed away on January 27, 1995 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola at 78 years of age.

George spent all of his life in the Murray area. He attended the country schools near Murray and worked as a farmer all of his life.

On May 24, 1934,George was united in marriage to Arlene McConnell in Bethany, MO and to this union one son, George B., was born.

Preceding George in death were his parents; an infant son, Raymond D. Simmerman; a sister, Gladys Drew; a sister, Bessie Burnett; a brother, David Simmerman; and an infant sister.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife, Arlene Simmerman of Murray, Iowa; son George B. Simmerman, Jr. and his wife Myrna of Murray, IA; grandchildren, Tony and Vicki Simmerman and family of Murray, IA; Kelly Simmerman of Murray, IA; Steve and Carla[Simmerman] Roush and family of Chariton, IA; Tracy and Kathy Simmerman and family of Murray, IA; Mike and Jodee[Simmerman] Eckels of Murray, IA; sister, Helen Spellerberg of Osceola, IA; sister, Mary Kirby of Osceola, IA; sister, Nellie Housh of Cedar Creek, TX; brother, Aubrey Simmerman of Truro, IA; brother, Robert Simmerman of Murray, IA;sister-in-law, Genivieve Simmerman; fifteen great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
