Cecil J. Riggle eldest son of John and Catherine Burgus Riggle was born on a farm north of Murray, Iowa , June 18, 1898 and passed away March 10, 1966 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.
[He attended] school near his home and as he grew to manhood he entered into farming with his father.
On March 12, 1919 at Creston, Ia., he was united in marriage to Josephine Johnson of Murray. One daughter was born to this union.
They lived near Murray until 1930 when they moved south of Osceola. His entire life has been spent in farming in Clarke county.
His greatest enjoyment was in raising fine livestock. He showed sheep at the State Fair for 10 years.
Of late he had been establishing an outstanding herd of Angus cattle which he enjoyed working with as long as his health permitted. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Iowa Southern Angus Association and the Shropshire Sheep Breeders Association.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine, daughter, Loretta Miller of New Virginia, son-in-law, Don Miller, grandson, Brett Miller; an aunt, Mrs. Minnie Riggle and two cousins of Des Moines. Other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at the Webster Funeral Home Saturday, March 12, 1966. Rev. Clinton D. Wolf officiated and interment was in Maple Hill cemetery.
