Joseph L. Donner

Joseph Levi Donner was born in Missouri, December 2, 1856, and died at his home in Murray, October 28, 1935, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 27 days.

When a small boy he moved to Maynard County, Illinois, with his parents where he lived but a short time until his parents passed away and he was left without a home. An uncle found him a home with distant relatives, Mr. and Mrs. H.N. Hoffman at Mason City, Illinois, where he grew to manhood. In 1882 he was united in marriage to Ella Reagan who preceded him in death June 28, 1928. To this union was born three children, Mrs. E.N. Sims of Denver, Mrs. Alice Swabb of Murray, with whom he has made his home for the last few years, and Roy of Des Moines. He leaves one brother and six grandchildren.

He was a member of the Methodist church for thirty years and was caretaker of the church for eleven years.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. D.M. Cox officiating and interment at Murray cemetery.
