Rex Evison Sr., Murray

Rex Kirk Evison Sr., 62, of Murray died May 29, 2005, at his home.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 2, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with pastor Orviill Terry officiating. Burial was at Union Cemetery.

Rex Evison Sr. was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Osceola to William and Margaret (Kirk) Evison. He was raised on a farm between Lorimor and Truro and graduated from Truro High School in 1960. Following his graduation from trade school in Omaha, Neb., Rex worked for Vernie Corsbie in Lorimor as a mechanic. In 1962, he moved to Galesburg, Ill., to work in the repair yard for C.B.&Q Railroad. In 1965, he returned to the area he was raised to farm. Besides farming, he also worked at P.D.M. in Des Moines, drove a semi truck cross country and owned his own construction business. On Sept. 19, 1968, he married Mary Ann Oliver of Winterset. He was a member of the Lorimor Baptist Church where he served as deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher; NFO; and Land Improvement Contractors of America of which he had held the offices of president and vice president.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Connie Maw.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, of Murray; two daughters, Lisa Bivans of Truro and Ann Evison of Breckenridge, Colo.; one son, Rex K. Evison Jr. of Des Moines; and a brother, Carol Evison of Des Moines.
