Lowell Knapp funeral set for Wednesday

Lowell M. Knapp, 55, 604 30th Ave., died Monday at his home.

Mr. Knapp had been in failing health for the past year. Authorities said he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He was employed at the Oliver Farm Equipment Co. He was a member of the American Legion, the U.A.W. and the Church of Oak Park.

Funeral services for Mr. Knapp will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. Houser Funeral Home. Ed Gattenbine of Mason City will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua, with military services at the graveside by Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Veterans of World War I. The casket will not be opened.

Lowell Martin Knapp was born August 26, 1916, at Nashua, the son of Vern and Grace Harmon Knapp. He attended school in the Nashua area and on Dec. 28, 1945, was married to Helen Kraft, at Austin, Minn. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Lowell and Randy both of Charles City, and three daughters, Mrs. Lyn (Andrea) Haites of Nashua, Mrs. Terry (Jolene) Engel, Clarksville, and Polly at home.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Grace Boullion of Nashua, one bother, Troy of Charles City, two sisters, Mrs. Donald Johnson of Charles City, and Mrs. Wallace Downs of Phoenix, Ariz., and two half sisters, Mrs. Gerald Allison of Ionia and Mrs. Emil Pevertorf of Jefferson. He was preceded in death by his father, one son and one sister.
