CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Troy L. Knapp, 84, of Charles City, formerly of Nashua, passed away on Monday morning (Dec. 30, 2002) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, of complications following a stroke suffered on December 25, 2002.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Trinity Methodist Church in Charles City, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery at Nashua.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home in Nashua and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Troy L. Knapp was born on Oct. 4, 1918 in rural Nashua, to Vern and Grace (Harmon) Knapp. He attended Maple Grove Country School.

Troy served as a sergeant during World War II where he was injured in a B-29 Mission over the Asiatic-Pacific Territory.

He was united in marriage to Anna Conner on Jan. 12, 1948 in Charles City.

Troy worked for Charles City Implement and Nashua Implement as a parts and service manager and farmed retiring in 1997.

He is survived by his wife, Anna M. Knapp, of Charles City; one son, Lonnie (Nancy) Knapp, of Hemet, Calif.; one daughter, Shirley (Joel) Rasmussen, of Clear Lake; five grandchildren, Eric, Jaime and Dusty Knapp, Adam and Alicia Rasmussen.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lowell, Dale and Vernon Jr.; five sisters, Alice Johnson, Avis Downs, Ethel Allison, Lucille Pevestorf, and Neva Ullrich.
