Alice Johnson, 77, Ionia, died Saturday morning, April 11, 1999, at her home.
Alice Fern Knapp Johnson, was born May 8, 1921, in Chickasaw County, the daughter of Verb and Grace (Harmon) Knapp. She graduated from Nashua High School and on June 28, 1921, she and Donald C. Johnson were married at Lancaster, Missouri. Alice was a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She loved being with her grandkids, and enjoyed being with family and friends. She made crafts and derived pleasure from bird watching, camping, flower gardening and everything in the out-of-doors.
Living family members include her husband, Donald of Ionia; two sons and their wives: Rev. Dennis and Nancy Johnson of LaCrosse, Wisconsin and David and Dee Johnson of Charles City; a brother, Troy Knapp of Charles City; Five grandchildren, Tim Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Paul and wife Sarah, all of LaCroose, and Allison and Lucas Johnson of Charles City.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag and the Rev. Mark Anderson officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Nashua.
Hauser Funeral Home, was in charge of arrangements.
