Rosetta Stanton
July 4, 1884 – Apr 18, 1888New Hampton Tribune, New Hampton, IA, Tues, Apr 24, 1888, p.4, col.1
It gives me much pain to announce the death of Rosetta, the four year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Stanton, which took place on the morning of April 18th. Lung fever was the cause of her death. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic burying ground in Utica Tp. Mr. and Mrs. Stanton have the sympathy of this community in their painful loss. Little Rosetta, with winsome ways, had entwined herself about the hearts of her parents like a lovely vine, and when death came, “chilling and killing” the beautiful plant, a painful sadness took the place of hope and love in their breasts. But like others they must bear it with what fortitude they can. Disappointment and suffering seem to be as much a part of our lot during life as anything else.
