Suicide of Jake Ries.
New Hampton Tribune:--The shocking news of the suicide of Jake Ries of Alta Vista reached here last night. Mrs. Ries left him at about 5 o’clock and went over to a neighbor’s. She was gone but a short time and on her return found him lying dead with a bullet through his heart. Coroner Landon was summoned but on his arrival at the scene of the tragedy deemed an inquest unnecessary.
The causes that led up to this rash act can only be conjectured. He gave no sign of the blackness of despair that culminated so tragically. It is presumed, however, that loss of faith in himself was the cause.
